What to settle before payroll can trust attendance

Clean pay starts with clean days: one source of punches, clear pairing, and rules that still make sense when data arrives late.

Payroll cannot invent presence. It can only follow the attendance record it is given.

Teams often discover the gap late — after overtime disputes, after an export fails reconciliation, after someone was on site but never appears in the day. Fixing the spreadsheet is temporary. Fixing how events are captured and paired is lasting.

Before you ask payroll to trust the numbers, settle a few basics:

  • One coherent record across the doors and devices people actually use
  • Clear in-and-out pairing when movement is not single-gate
  • Rules that still apply correctly when punches arrive late
  • A place where HR can see exceptions without rebuilding the day by hand

VAQT is built around that sequence: get the time right, then turn it into insight the rest of the organization can use.
